WHAT: Camp ZooAbility is a week-long Day Camp based out of the Chattanooga Zoo in June and July for individuals ages 6 and older who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities, and siblings. Weeks are age specific. Daily activities include, but are not limited to: arts & crafts, Zoo exploration, animal enrichments, group activities, swimming, a grand finale talent show, and much more!
WHO: Individuals ages 6 and older who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities and their siblings. *Please note: The Chattanooga Therapeutic Recreation Services Division is not staffed to support campers who are unable to control violent behavior, or who need significant help with toileting or dressing. Camp ZooAbility strives to have low camper/counselor ratios in order for all campers to be successful. However, we are currently not equipped with the staffing to provide 1:1 for all campers.
WHEN: Camp is Monday - Friday and each week is divided up by age group:
Week 1: (6 -12 yrs) June 19 - 23
Week 2: (13-21 yrs) June 26 - 30
Week 3: (22 yrs and up) July 10 - 14
TIME: 9am-2pm daily

A lottery system of random selection will be utilized in order to ensure fair and equal opportunity to participate in camp this year. To add your camper's name to the list for randomized selection, you must contact Elaine with this info:

We will be collecting names from 2/17 - 3/5.
All names will then be submitted into the lottery system and
all interested parties will be notified by 3/10 of lottery results.

Challenge Air Fly Day Chattanooga - Registration Open!
WHAT: The mission of Challenge Air for Kids & Friends, Inc. is to build confidence and self-esteem in children and youth with special needs through the gift of flight. Chattanooga Therapeutic Recreation Services is once again partnering to bring the gift of flight to children with disabilities in our community! What Happens During The Event?
Highlights of the day for participants include: an educational ground school, a 30-minute flight, face painting, activities and entertainment, cool static aircraft, lunch, service animals, and much more!
WHAT/WHO: A group of individuals with disabilities, their family members and friends who want to explore the beautiful trails in Chattanooga together! All trails are easy to moderate, and the group naturally splits up (with a trail leader) based on desired hiking speed.
WHERE: For our March hike, join us out at Greenway Farms! The Greenway Farms Loop is about a 2 mile hike consisting of compact dirt on a flat,wide trail. Part of the trail follows along the Chickamauga Creek and the whole trail is surrounded by beautiful trees. We'll meet at the conference center to begin the hike and there is access to a water fountain and bathrooms by the center.
WHAT: A four week day program that invites you to come relax, socialize, and make some awesome art! Every week there will be a new project that you can take home at the end of the night. Also, each project will include different mediums and can be uniquely decorated to your liking. All supplies and instruction will be provided, so all you need to do is register and show up with a creative attitude!
WHO: Individuals with disabilities ages 13 and up
WHEN: Tuesdays, 4/25 - 5/16
TIME: 1-2:30pm
WHERE: Hixson Community Center (5401 School Drive, 37343)
Overview: Monthly games with SPARC, a chapter of DSUSA These are "pick-up games", which are designed to encourage skill development, recreational wheelchair basketball play opportunities and community awareness on a monthly basis. The program is designed for individuals with physical disabilities/mobility impairments along with individuals without disabilities that want to encourage inclusive opportunities. All participants must meet the following requirements:
Minimum Requirements for the Safety of Participants:
1. Must have the cognitive ability to follow directions and instructions.
2. Must be able to stop the wheelchair quickly and appropriately maneuver chair safely during participation.
3. Must not have medical issues which could endanger the participant, including seizures.
4. Minimum age for all participants is 15.
5. Participants, or guardians for participants under the age of 18, must sign liability release forms from SPARC, A Chapter of DSUSA.
6. Participants must follow all NWBA rules and regulations in order to facilitate safe and fair play.
7. Must have basic ball control skills (or the ability to develop skills) including: throwing, catching, and passing.
8. Maximum weight of 250 lbs based on chair specifications. *If you do not meet this requirement but have your own wheel chair please bring it to participate with.

WHAT: Special Olympics Young Athletes is a sport and play program for children with intellectual disabilities (ID) and siblings, ages 2 to 7 years old. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Young Athletes offers the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.
WHO: Ages 2-7, children with intellectual disabilities and siblings.
WHEN: Tuesdays, starting in May
TIME: 4-6pm
